The perennial problem for using USA equipment in the UK and Europe is the different voltage used on both continents (USA=110/120V, Europe=220/240V), so When North American travellers come to England, they are presented with the harmonised European 230V a.c. mains supply, as opposed to 120V a.c. as used in North America. Europeans have the opposite problem, they need a step-up transformer.
